New Render As "Mobile: Smartphone - Upcoming" Feature on Google Search Console

We’ve recently spotted a new feature on Google Search Console’s fetch as Google where you are able to render that web page under “mobile: Smartphone – Upcoming”.

Google have added this feature to their Search Console Support page, simply saying:

 

Mobile: Smartphone

  • Current – Uses the current (but soon to be replaced) version of the Google Smartphone.
  • Upcoming – Uses the latest version of the Google Smartphone crawler.

 

Once fetched and rendered, you are unable to ‘submit to index’ as with other forms:

We’ll keep an eye out for when the ‘current’ gets replaced, it seems strange that Google simply haven’t rolled out the updated bots automatically!
